In summer, the lakes shimmer invitingly, enticing paddleboarders and canoeists to glide across their mirrored surfaces, while winter transforms the landscape into a playground for snowboarders and skiers eager to carve fresh tracks down pristine slopes. Portland's allure lies not only in its vibrant urban culture but also in its profound connection to the untamed beauty that surrounds it, making it a paradise for adventurers and nature lovers alike.

Mindful Design Meets Modern Comfort

As you step inside, the warm embrace of soothing music and an indoor fireplace greets you. The open loft design reveals a well-curated kitchen and dining area, with a wooden staircase leading to the first-floor living room and master bedroom with an ensuite bathroom.
The cabin's interior is meticulously designed, boasting high-quality appliances seamlessly integrated with modern technology. From Sonos speakers to a smart TV and reliable Wi-Fi, every detail has been considered to make your stay comfortable.
Nestled in a quiet neighborhood, just a stone's throw away from the Sandy River, is a forest retreat that captures the essence of the Pacific Northwest's natural beauty and serves as the perfect basecamp for Mt. Hood adventures. We had the privilege of spending a weekend at Saturday Cabin, an idyllic getaway owned and curated by Alison and Greg, the creative minds behind Portland's Perspektiiv Design Co design studio.

Design Meets Nature

Alison and Greg's vision was to transform a 1969 chalet into a unique boutique rental experience that perfectly harmonizes with its surroundings. Their shared love for the outdoors and the environment led them to create a vacation home that offers a true taste of Oregon.
Located in a serene neighborhood near the Sandy River, the black-painted wooden chalet instantly exudes a sense of retreat and relaxation. The beautifully curated patio, complete with an outdoor fire pit, a hot tub and string lights, sets the tone for an unforgettable escape. Large windows with high ceilings flood the cabin with natural light, creating a connection to the outdoors from every corner.
What sets Saturday Cabin apart is the owners' shared commitment to nature and clean living. They took a significant step to create an energy-efficient home during the renovation process, investing in new windows, insulation and an electric furnace. Their dedication to eco-friendly practices extends to the use of 100% organic linen sheets, recycled paper products and all-natural cleaning supplies.
A portion of their annual sales goes to The Evergreen Collaborative, furthering their support for the environment.

Local Touches and Eco-Friendly Living

The cabin is thoughtfully adorned with local brands, such as art pieces by Catherine Freshley, ceramic mugs from PYE and Pendleton towels, creating a strong sense of place.
For us, the mark of a perfect vacation is having a fully equipped kitchen that inspires culinary creativity, and Saturday Cabin delivers just that. The kitchen boasts top-notch appliances, from a frother to a waffle maker, high-quality knives and kids' tableware. Fresh coffee beans and a wide selection of teas, along with an array of spices, invite you to craft your culinary masterpieces. The expansive SMEG refrigerator and freezer are ideal for longer stays.
If you prefer not to cook, the curated guest book offers an array of local dining recommendations. Among our favorites is Koya Kitchen, a sushi and matcha haven perfect after a long hike, with a covered patio for rainy days. After a day of exploring, a late-night soak in the hot tub, listening to the gentle flow of the nearby Sandy River, allows the stresses of city life to melt away.

The Perfect Winter Hideaway

For those seeking adventure in the winter, Saturday Cabin has you covered. The covered breezeway features built-in racks for skis and boards, ensuring a hassle-free transition from the mountains to your cozy haven. As the sun sets, the indoor fireplace adds an authentic chalet ambiance, while the garage game room, complete with a ping pong table and a mural by local artist Hannah Haywood, offers indoor entertainment.
Our stay at Saturday Cabin was nothing short of magical, and it won't be our last. With a perfect blend of thoughtful design, modern comfort, and a commitment to the environment, it offers a much-needed escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life.
